Calling all flower lovers, creatives, and those looking to learn some new floral skills to take on a steward role or similar, we are launching this 2 day course to take you through the basics of modern floristry – no floral foam in sight.
Day 1 includes introduction to colour theory, flower varieties and flower conditioning, with a booklet to keep and revisit. Going straight into bouquet making in a spiralled style – as well as adapting the design with threaded stems to grow your confidence and skill in bouquet design. Ensuring each attendee has some one-on-one guidance with Hayley who will share pointers and design tips.
We will then apply the bouquet design into a vase build, showcasing technique to scale up to fill a large vase in both a front-facing asymmetrical style and circular design, for a standout entrance piece.
Day 1 will finish with a 45 minute chat over tea and cake, with a ASK ME ANYTHING approach to pick Hayley’s brains in regards to floristry and what has worked for BLOOMS over our six and a half years in business. Dig deep with any questions which might help you in your own endeavours.
For those wanting a more in-depth discussion regarding business, brand, costs, pitching and ordering flowers with minimal waste and maximum profit, we have a “1-1 BUSINESS IS BLOOMING” half day session available (see more here).
Day 2 will focus on tablescape florals, working across: bud vases, flower frog designs, and chicken wire in ceramic bowls. This day will include a professional photographer to come and capture your work for your budding portfolio.
The second half of day 2, as a group, we will dress a table at a nearby hotel venue for a hypothetical event, with Hayley giving her expertise on dining styling. This will include insight on placement of glassware, candles, napkins and menu designs to make the entire look cohesive. Our professional photographer will capture set-up shots of each of you in action, as well as portfolio shots of your finished pieces to showcase your tablescape skills.
All of the tuition, fresh flowers, aprons, tools, mechanics, professional photography, drinks and snacks will be provided! All you will need, other than your ticket, is transport to our Newquay based flower studio and a packed lunch (or lunch money if you want to pop out).
Both days will include a selection of pastries, fruits, yoghurt and granola, as well as a selection of hot and cold drinks for attendees to help themselves to.
Tickets will be limited to only 8 attendees to ensure that you receive enough individual instruction and guidance.
All attendees will leave with their fresh flower designs to keep, professional photos, a certificate of completion and a tote bag keepsake. BOOK YOUR SPACE HERE.
